Nick Hardwick is going to the Pro Bowl, which, in my mind, gives him the freedom to talk a little smack. The New England Patriots and their fans, however, have other opinions. Apparently nobody is allowed to talk any smack about their “perfect” and “holier than thou” team. Yes, the Patriots are a good team. I am not, by any stretch, looking to negate what they have accomplished this season; however, many Patriots’ fans (notice I said “many” not “all” as I have met a few shall we say “normal” fans) believe and proscribe to the notion that with every mention of New England, one should not forget to say how great they are. Almost like a ringing of angels’ voices heralded from the heavens when the words “Patriots”, “New England”, or “Tom Brady” are uttered.
Case in point: Nick Hardwick.

(Wow, he looks SOOO mean, doesn’t he?!?)
Apparently Hardwick had some “words” for and about Richard Seymour. “Richard Seymour is the biggest (expletive) I’ve ever come across in football,” Hardwick said. “They’ve got 10 good football players on that team. Richard Seymour is a dirty, cheap little pompous (expletive).” (Read more here.)
Of course Bill Belichick rushed to Seymour’s defense (because, apparently, the 6′6″, 310 lb. DT couldn’t defend himself, and shame on anyone who dares to disrespect the Patriots.)
Frankly, I am sick to death of hearing how so-and-so upset the fragile egos of the Patriots. Just because they are currently undefeated, they (and their fans) expect the entire world to kowtow at their feet.
I believe, perhaps, Seymour is a bit jealous of Hardwick. Let’s see, Seymour was selected to the Pro Bowl this year, but as he is injured, he won’t be playing. Seymour attended Georgia. Hardwick will be playing in the Pro Bowl. Hardwick went to Purdue (sorry Bulldogs, Hardwick got the better education.) Don’t believe me? Ask Drew Brees and Shaun Phillips, other Purdue alumni. (And let’s not get into a Big 10 vs. SEC debate…it’s been done.)
Anyway, yes, if one is going to talk smack, they ought to back it up. Philip Rivers is a smack talker, and he showed his mettle (”vigor and strength of spirit or temperament”) this season. Igor Olshansky apparently offended the Patriots as well after the Chargers defeated the Colts. (If you ask me, Olshansky is also 6′6″ and 305 lbs, so, in my opinion, he can say pretty much whatever he wishes.)
All Hardwick was explaining was the bias and prejudice of officials in favor of the Patriots, just like the blatant favoritism of the Colts the previous week. And please don’t waste my or anyone else’s time arguing that it doesn’t happen. Sure it does. When the media and public seem to want certain teams in big games (and it’s not just happening in football) there is blatantly biased officiating.
So yes, to me the Patriots are full of dirty players. Heck, a players poll made Rodney Harrison the dirtiest player in the league by a landslide. Don’t tell me the Patriots are saints. Between “spygate”, Harrison’s big mouth toward Brian Billick, Tom Brady’s verbal assaults against Pittsburgh, (should I go on!?), etc. etc. etc. the Patriots have earned their fair share of negative publicity. Get over it, the Patriots should not be elevated to the point where their podium rests alonside Mother Teresa or Gandhi.

(Igor…..dang, check out those guns!!)

Thank you for this blog. The Patriots are a bunch of punks, classless and dirty. Why wasn’t Vrabel flagged for the leg whip on Rivers? Seymour could have been called for several 15 yarders. It happens in every game. The players also taunt opposing fans behind their bench at every away game they play. Fans of the Cheats will say that everyone is just jealous, which is untrue. Most people don’t like classless, cheating thugs that live under some Godly persona. Most NFL fans want their team to get to the top the right way, not the Patriots*** way. Jealosy my butt.
Go Giants!
Jake
Karma’s a comin’ for the Cheatriots, it’s a comin’ Nationwide jubilation will erupt……
I’m still bummed by the loss and upset about LT just sitting on the bench in the second half. I also read a site www.thereitisjake.com where the guy is calling for LT to be traded. Maybe he should’ve played and maybe he shouldn’t, but that talk is nuts!
it is jealousy not jealosy. and yes you are all jealous because NE is 18-0 headed for 19-0 and theres nothing anyone can do about it. all this cheating talk screams AM JEALOUS beacuse they did not cheat they broke a rule. and all this whinning screams i wish my team was as good as the pats and there not so i’ll go with the baseless there cheaters statement you are all reaching. this is the same exact team everyone loved won they beat the rams now that they haven’t stopped winning everyone now is a bunch of whiny cry babies keep whinning and cry’n and the pats will just keep winning
ya karms coming gee haven’t been hearing that since week 2 still undefeated the whole country can cry and watch as NE destroys the giants. go pats
One word comes to mind when reading this blog:
“Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh”
So let me get this right, when Brady and Harrison talk it’s “verbal assaults” and them having a “big mouth.” Then when anyone else talks smack it’s justified by their weight, height and pro-bowl selections? What kind of points are you making? Unless this is a joke (why would you waste your time?)You sound as hypocritical as those fans that inspired you to write this.
“Of course Bill Belichick rushed to Seymour’s defense (because, apparently, the 6′6″, 310 lb. DT couldn’t’t defend himself, and shame on anyone who dares to disrespect the Patriots.)”
Well, as a coach, when someone makes a claim that one of your players head butted the assistant coach of another team that’s a pretty big deal. In fact, if Seymour didn’t, its called libel. I also fail to see how he making the claim that Seymour head butted a coach is merely “explaining the bias and prejudice of officials in favor of the Patriots.” Or making a statement like “They’ve got 10 good football players on that team. Richard Seymour is a dirty, cheap little pompous (expletive).” falls under this category. That seems more like a personal attack.
Gee, Chris…if you’re going to correct someone’s spelling of “jealousy” you ought to make sure your posts aren’t chock full of spelling errors themselves.
Thank you for the rest of your opinions. Me jealous of the Patriots? No way. Yes, I’m disappointed in the Chargers, but you cannot deny that officiating is biased.
Furthermore, those of you who don’t “get” my sarcastic wit ought to read more than just one entry. I don’t praise the Chargers for everything. I have blogged several scathing attacks on the Chargers’ organization this year, particularly in the beginning when they sucked.
If you don’t like my blog, don’t read it. It’s written BY a Chargers fan FOR Chargers fans, and since I am the supreme being when it comes to this blog, I can just make you all disappear, so be thankful I have decided to leave your comments for the world to see.
This is hilarious…come on Pats fans…keep em coming!
The Patriots organization and especially their fans are a bunch of scumbags.
Oh, and Joey, I AM one of those fans and nobody else “inspired” me to write this. I’m a diehard Chargers fan and I suppose my sarcasm went over your head with respect to the height and weight comment. I was merely stating that if a man of Seymour or Oshansky’s size wants to tell me something, then fine by me because of their size (it’s called a joke.)
The Chargers have some big mouths, tis true. But so does every team in the league. Unfortunately, some teams’ mouths are bigger than the rest, and the statement that the Patriots are classy because they give the other teams they have beaten their “props” - those statements by Belichick et. al. reek of hypocrisy and antagonism.
And once and for all, let’s get this LT and Merriman “whining” out of the way (and Chris, one ‘N’ in ‘whining.’) When the classless Patsies danced on the Chargers’ logo after the win last season, MOCKING Merriman, LT came to his defense. Since then, I have yet to hear LT or Merriman “whine” about anything, but it’s Patsie fans such as yourself which promulgate these “whining” implications.)
By the way, I see that Junior Seau still does his goofy little dance after each and every tackle.
And you know what, LT has been to the Pro Bowl 5 of his 7 professional years, and Merriman, all 3 of his pro years, so they have the right to talk as much as Tom claims Seymour has the right to.
Charger_girl,
Thank you very much for the informative and awesome blogs. I read them because I’m a Chargers fan,and i come here for the facts about the team I love. If the Patriots fans don’t like what’s written go somewhere else. They cheated and Brady is a punk. Even though I have no use for Eli, I hope the Giants win! GO CHARGERS!
