Patriot RB Kevin Faulk was given a misdemeanor summons Tuesday, February 26th for simple marijuana possession in his hometown of Lafayette, LA. Cops said he was very cooperative when they found the “four marijuana cigarettes” in his possession, while on the way to a concert. Well, at least he wasn’t caught with the half pound of pot that teammate DB Willie Andrews was cited for earlier this month.

Baltimore terminated the contract of RB Mike Anderson, who was under contract until 2009. Anderson spent the past two seasons with the Ravens and was a Bronco prior to that. His dismissal releases nearly $2 million within Baltimore’s salary cap.

Veteran RB Anthony Thomas was cut by Buffalo this week. The Bills have depth at RB with last year’s rookie Marshawn Lynch having a fabulous season, as well as Fred Jackson and Dwayne Wright behind him. Despite Thomas earning Rookie of the Year kudos in 2001, his numbers had been steadily dwindling, and Lynch’s success put the proverbial nail in the casket for Thomas. I’m sure he’ll find a new home soon.
More Bills news: WR Roscoe Parrish was arrested for DUI last week in Miami, while driving his 2005 Bentley, and released later on a $1,000 bond.

Minnesota cut backup QB Kelly Holcomb, essentially stating that Tavaris Jackson is their starter. During Jackson’s 3-game injury absence last season, Holcomb went 0-3. His release opens speculation about the Vikings’ possible draft strategies, inasmuch as they will be looking to draft another QB as well as possibly securing a veteran in free agency.

The Kansas City Chiefs released WR Eddie Kennison, CB Ty Law, LB Kendrell Bell, DT James Reed, and TE Jason Dunn. Law may be headed back to New England as Asante Samuel and Eugene Wilson may be leaving New England due to their free agent status. Kennison shouldn’t have trouble finding a new team, as he is still quite better than a lot of WRs out there.

Cleveland terminated long time productive defensive lineman Orpheus Roye this week, probably due to salary cap considerations and the fact that he has been injured the past two seasons with knee issues.

Tennessee placed their franchise tag on DT Albert Haynesworth, ensuring he will remain a Titan for next season (whoa, big surprise there!!)
Adam “Pacman” Jones finally settled his last charge, that of obstruction of justice 2 years ago in Georgia. He was sentenced to three years’ probation and a $500 fine. The plea renders Jones a convicted felon; however, the defense is stating the plea really amounts to that of “no contest.” If the league reinstates Jones, the Titans will be looking to probably trade him. I think Oakland may have room.

The Carolina Panthers cut former #1 pick QB David Carr and signed ex-Bear WR Mushin Muhammed to a two-year contract, hopefully allowing Steve Smith less double-teaming by defenses. Starting QB Jake Delhomme is recovering from ligament replacement surgery in his right elbow (a.k.a. Tommy John surgery.) Delhomme’s recovery is slow, but, says the QB, he is pain free for the first time in several years.

The Philadelphia Eagles released DE Jevon Kearse after 4 years citing that recurring injuries have limited his play to a mere 16 games over the past two seasons. Prior to Philadelphia, Kearse spend 5 years in Tennessee.

Speaking of injured veterans, Indianapolis cut DT Anthony McFarland and LB Rob Morris citing that both had missed most of last season.

Detroit has picked up former Viking safety and free agent Dwight Smith, adding a nickel corner and more depth at safety to the Lions defense. Smith hails from Detroit, and was the high school teammate of Antonio Gates.
