More Free Agency Goodies

Well, it’s official….ex-Bronco K Jason Elam is now officially an ex-Bronco, having signed with the Atlanta Falcons with a 4-year, $9 million contract, $3.3 million guaranteed.  Apparently Arthur Blank and Al Davis have a side bet as to who spends more on free agents in this offseason.

Apparently the Colts don’t appreciate TE Ben Utecht, as they failed to meet the offer from Cincinnati.  Utecht and the Bengals are working out the fine print for a 3-year contract.

Seattle is digging their collective claws into LB Lofa Tatupu who, after 3 Pro-Bowls, was treated to a contract extension of 6 years and $42 million.

Back to the Blank/Davis, er, how shall I say it, urinating competition…ex-Falcon crybaby and CB DeAngelo Hall is officially a Raider, signing an exorbitant 7-year, $70 million contract with a guaranteed $24.5 million.

If anyone cares (because I sure don’t), New England is frantically trying to rebuild their secondary after losing several of their key players in free agency (apparently some of the players didn’t like being associated with known cheaters - and I commend them) by signing ex-Lion CB Fernando Bryant.  No contract details are available as of yet; presumably because the Patriots organization is trying to figure out how to ‘creatively’ launder, er, allocate their funds.

San Francisco is interested in LB Takeo Spikes.  Detroit is definitely NOT interested in CB Pacman Jones (ummmm, DUH?!?!)

Jacksonville QB Quinn Gray is meeting with Houston to potentially backup Matt Schaub as current backup Sage Rosenfels is likely going to Minnesota.  Oakland and Green Bay are also ‘romancing’ Gray, so only time will tell where the young QB will be next season.

Young Packers RB sensation Ryan Grant will be negotiating with Green Bay for a new contract as he is definitely worth more than the minimum $370,000 exclusivity tender for 2nd-year players.  The Packers are also reportedly talking to many, many other potential QBs to add to their roster after the retirement of Brett Favre.
