Well, the Chargers had a whopping one selection today, at the end of the first day of the 2008 NFL Draft; selecting University of Arizona CB Antoine Cason with their first pick, #27 overall.
Cason, 6′, 191 lbs, started 46 games during his college career. He was named First Team All-Pac 10 twice and was the recipient of the 2007 Jim Thorpe Award, given to the country’s top defensive back.
One BIG plus about Cason is his versatility; whether playing outside CB, nickel back, and also safety. With Drayton Florence gone in free agency, the San Diego coaching staff is excited about what Cason will be able to immediately contribute to the team in 2008.
Sunday will give the Chargers more action; as they have (2) 5th-round, (1) 6th-round, and (1) 7th-round picks.)
