Getting Back to Business with LT

LaDainian Tomlinson’s obvious absence during the offseason was likely a combination of his knee injury and some mental anguish over the end of last season.

Sports Illustrated caught up with the Pro Bowl RB in Los Angeles, where he was filming two spots for upcoming Chunky soup commercials to air during opening weekend.  Check out his interview here.

Additionally, SignOnSanDiego.com’s Tim Sullivan reported on the aforementioned mental wounds with which LT is still suffering.  Essentially, the comments made by NFL Network’s Deion Sanders as to LT’s character has proverbially stuck in his craw.  He says he feels as though he has something to prove again, as a result.  Particularly with Michael Turner’s departure, LT wants to achieve a level of conditioning to enable him to play an entire season, if necessary.  So determined he is right now, that the offseason weight gain he typically experiences did not happen this year.  Quite simply, he blames himself for his injury; however, does not feel the commentary following the AFC Championship Game was warranted.  In any case, he is ready and willing to provide proof as to his heart and determination - because we are all already aware of his abilities.

One final note:  despite LT’s claims that he wishes to play in at least one preseason game to avoid the slow start he typically experiences, particularly last season, Norv Turner asserted that LT will not participate in any preseason game action to keep him fresh.  All I can say to this is, “Hmmmmmmm.”

LT is great whether he plays in the preseason or not. And he’s cute like Vincent Jackson and Darren Sproles.
