The Latest on Those Cheating Patriots (ahem, excuse me, “allegedly” Cheating Patriots)

So, whipping boy du jour and ex-Patriot employee Matt Walsh has turned over 8 tapes to the league, from 2000-2002, to be utilized as potential evidence in the continuing investigation against Bill Belicheat, er Belichick and the New England Patriots.

These tapes allegedly do not include the walk through practice of the St. Louis Rams, prior to Super Bowl XXXVI between these two teams - one in which New England won in an upset.

Walsh is supposed to meet separately with both Roger Goodell and Sen. Arlen Specter in the next week.

One of the games on the tape is against the San Diego Chargers in 2002. 

Of the 5 teams reflected in these tapes:  Miami, Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and San Diego; the Patriots are a combined 31-9 against them, and 3-0 in the postseason.  Coincidence?  I, personally, think a resounding NO.

Additionally, 7 of these tapes show opposing coaches’ signals and the subsequent play.  The Chargers tape “shows raw footage of the San Diego coaches from the New England sidelines, followed immediately by a shot of the scoreboard showing time, down, and distance, but no actual plays.”  Um, DUH, watch a tape of the actual game and voila…there’s the play.  One really does not have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

The most incriminating tape is of the Pittsburgh Steelers, during the 2002 AFC Championship Game which shows two angles of each play, in addition to coaches’ signals.

The league states that additional penalties may be imposed upon the Patriots in the face of additional evidence.  Hopefully, Congress will levy penalties against Goodell too…if for no other reason than being a complete moron.

By the way, Walsh is now a golf pro in Hawaii.  Hmmm, I wonder if tapes of him would get my golf-playing (and yucky Broncos fan) stepdad “in” with Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods.  Just a thought.  And, of course, such a statement assumes that Walsh is actually good.  Oh, hi mom and Max.  Happy early Mother’s Day!!

    Walsh was, is, and has been a golf pro for quite some time. A “yucky” Charger fan is not qualified to judge a John Elway Bronco fan, but since I love your mother sooooooooo much, I will excuse you.

    And who went to the playoffs last year? And the year before? And, yes, I know Elway won 2 Super Bowls…you always remind me about that and Ryan Leaf.

    I hate the Patriots too - they are cheaters. And cheaters never prosper. The Chargers should have gone to and won the Super Bowl the past TWO seasons.
