Player Spotlight - Clinton Hart

Here are some interesting factoids about star Safety #42, Clinton Hart.

1.  He was born in Dade City, Florida on July 20, 1977 (a Cancer, like my older daughter!)

2.  He was drafted by the Anaheim Angels (yes, folks….BASEBALL) right out of high school; however, he chose to stay in Florida; playing for Central Florida Community College instead.

3.  He started his football career with the Arena League’s Tampa Bay Storm, then was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles and allocated to NFL Europa in 2002; returning to Philly for the 2003 season and playing part-time.

4.  San Diego released WR (and current Patriot) Wes Welker to make room for Hart, after snagging him from the waiver wire just prior to the 2004 season.

5.  Eager to become an “in-the-box” safety in Ted Cottrell’s defensive scheme, Hart gained 10 lbs prior to the 2007 season and entered the year atop the depth chart, playing all 16 regular season and 3 postseason games.

6.  Last month, Hart’s contract was extended through the 2012 season (YAY!!!)

7.  An all-around good guy, great player, wonderful family man, and, according to his friends, a real class act!
