Notes from Training Camp

Friday ushered in what is known in San Diego as “Christmas in July” - or the start of training camp.  Of course, expectations were sky high, as the team won its division the last 3 or 4 years, and barely missed 2 trips to the Super Bowl as a result of the Cheatriots, er Patriots (What?!?!  I’m a diehard fan!!).

The Bolts’ first pick, Antoine Cason, has (FINALLY) agreed to terms for a 5-year contract just in time for training camp.

Antonio Gates, Nick Hardwick, Andrew Pinnock, and Anthony Waters have all been placed on the Active-PUP (physically unable to perform) list pending clearance by a physician prior to the final roster cut date of August 30.

Personally, I hope they are all 100% by the start of the season; particularly Gates, as he is on my fantasy team (along with Vincent Jackson, Nate Kaeding, Philip Rivers and the Chargers DST!)

The Chargers released WR Eric Parker after missing last season with a toe injury.  With the addition of Chris Chambers, Buster Davis and Legedu Naanee, not to mention Vincent Jackson’s impressive abilities, and the always exciting Kassim Osgood and Malcom Floyd, Parker is, simply, not needed.  I do wish Parker all the luck in the world, unless he signs with New England or Denver.
