Here’s to the Madden Curse!!

Anyone else sick to death of the whole Favre situation?  First he retires after much deliberation.  Then he decides he wants to play and throws a virtual temper tantrum large enough to rival any 2-year old to get his job back.  Declining a ridiculous $20-million “bribe” to stay retired, not to mention forcing the Packers to cut a potential player to make room for him on the roster, I’m not surprised if the team is less than happy about his return.  Particularly Aaron Rodgers.  Here’s a potentially great QB who has been looking forward throughout the entire off-season to being the starter, ie. the future of the team.  Now, he may have to compete against Favre for the start.

In my opinion (completely biased as always), if a player retires and decides he wants to play, he should be made to sit out an entire year before asking for reinstatement. Maybe that way, he can really decide if he wants to, in fact, retire. But of course, the incompetent Roger Goodell not only took his time deciding whether to reinstate Favre, but then did, in fact, reinstate him with no consequences (ie. a fine, some sort of stipulation that he sit out ‘n’ number of games, etc.)

One more point.  Anyone notice who is gracing the cover of ‘Madden 09′ this year??  You betcha (for all you northerners), Mr. Favre himself.  Now I say, let him start in the preseason…perhaps the ‘curse’ will hit him before the season starts.

By the way, is Bill Parcells high?  Josh McCown is atop the Dolphins’ QB depth list?!?  Sorry, but get ready Fin fans for another dubious 1-15 season.
