K Nate Kaeding has rededicated himself to the sport and his team by cranking up his workouts in the offseason, complete with a visit to Indianapolis to join a variety of athletes at St. Vincent’s for a several week, in-depth training program where his kicking motions were analyzed, critiqued, and corrected, and he was able to up his strength workouts.  He as also altered his approach, taking fewer steps, and increased game-simulation moments during his workouts.

His offseason calf injury (which turned out to be a fractured fibula in his plant leg) was unapparent, witnessed by his 53-yd FG in the 2nd half of last week’s preseason meeting with the Cowboys.

Entering his 5th year in the league and with the Chargers, Kaeding has an 86.7 FG completion percentage, 5th best in the league over the past 5 years.  He says he has never felt stronger or more confident.

Nice to see Kaeding improving himself in the offseason. This makes him so much more valuable when the Chargers can count on him everytime he takes the field.
