While this game wasn’t a nailbiter (although, seriously, what preseason games really are?), the Chargers showed some real defensive prowess.
Marc Bulger was intercepted on his first two drives - by CBs Cletus Gordon and Antoine Cason. Additionally DT Lamar Divens and LB Jyles Tucker each forced a fumble. LB Tim Dobbins and Tucker were each credited with a sack as well.
Nate Kaeding was perfect in FGs, hitting from 27 and 31 yds.
On the other side of the ball, Chargers QBs Billy Volek and Charlie Whitehurst were collectively sacked 4 times, but committed no turnovers.
RB Darren Sproles left the game with a right knee injury suffered by some questionable contact during a fair catch. He did leave the field under his own power; however, Chargers fans remember Sproles season-ending broken leg 2 years ago during the preseason. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.
The Chargers host Seattle Monday night 8/25, and finish the preseason in San Francisco on Friday 8/29 (my birthday!!)

(Darren Sproles….he’s such a cutie!!!)

Last I heard, Sproles had a bruised knee (thankfully that was it) so if anyone knows anything else, please let me know. Hopefully he will be fine by the start of regular season!!
