We all know what happened the last time these two teams met, and NFL Network was kind enough to re-air the AFC Championship game from January, so let’s not go there.

Instead, I will attempt to find something positive about my beloved Chargers with which to fill this blog in the hopes that some good karma will go their way Sunday night.

1.  Antonio Gates has 185 yds in his two games vs. the Patriots (let’s forget the miserable 12 yds from last week’s game in Miami, shall we?)

2.  New England QB Matt Cassel has tossed 3 INTs in his past 2 games.

3.  When Antonio Cromartie posts an INT, the Chargers are 7-0.

4.  Five of Chris Chambers’ 11 receptions have been for TDs this year.  Unfortunately, Chambers has missed practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday, giving other receivers (Davis, Floyd & Naanee) the opportunity for good things, in addition to the Bolts’ other WR stud Vincent Jackson.

5.  Rivers is 2nd in the AFC with 11 TD passes (but has struggled his past 2 games.)

6.  Last season, San Diego recovered from a 2-3 start to break even before the break and winning their last 6 games en route to the AFC Championship game.  This season, the Bolts’ 3 losses have been by a total of 10 points.

I have vented enough on my current opinion of the coaching, running game, defense (or lack thereof) and play calling, so I will not reiterate.  Suffice it to say that the Chargers desperately need a W.

Interestingly (unfortunately?), of the 3 teams favored to win the AFC (Chargers, Patriots, & Colts), none of them lead their division and only New England currently has a winning record.

This game has been called the Game of the Week, and in addition to being aired on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, it will also be simulcast on the NFL Network.

Oh, and Go Jaguars!!
