Ahhhhhhhh, the sweet taste of REVENGE, Week 6 Post Game Report

Chargers 30, Patriots 10

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!  What a fantastic game!  Starting with the 48-yd beautiful catch by Vincent Jackson, the Chargers had the momentum throughout, snapping New England’s 12-game road win streak.

Philip Rivers was on fire tonight, 18-27, 306 yds and 3 TDs; as were Jackson, 5 receptions, 134 yds and a TD, and Malcom Floyd, 3 receptions, 79 yds and a TD (filling in for the injured Chris Chambers).  Antonio Gates caught Rivers’ 3rd TD.

It was nice to see LT almost back to top form with 118 all purpose yards and managing to maneuver much better than he had in earlier games.  And congratulations to LT for becoming the 17th player (and 4th fastest) to reach 11,000 yds!!

And HUGE kudos to the DST!!  4 sacks of Cassel (Cooper, Bingham, Olshansky and Harris), a beautiful INT by Quentin Jammer, and forced fumble by Marques Harris (but no backflip).  Jammer looked great on Randy Moss and, most importantly, there were no penalties against him.  Jamal Williams, despite only being credited for 2 tackles, was instrumental on the 4-down goal-line defensive stance forcing the Patriots to turn it over on downs.  Eric Weddle had 10 big tackles to lead the team tonight.

The offensive line protected Rivers - no sacks!

There were a couple of mistakes, such as the missed FG by Nate Kaeding and Jacob Hester’s fumble, but those didn’t hurt the Bolts at all, and all is forgiven.

I do owe Jackson a huge apology though.  I wasn’t sure how his knee was doing, so I only started him in one fantasy league tonight (I have him in all 3 of my leagues) and had I played him across the board, I wouldn’t have lost one matchup.  I hang my head in shame and vow never to doubt again.

Rivers’ and Jackson’s visages were plastered across Madden’s and Michael’s horse trailer.  WTG guys!!

Denver lost to Jacksonville at home today (YAY! WOO HOO!!) so the Chargers are only a game out.  Next week the Bolts travel to Buffalo, coming off a bye after losing their first game to the Cardinals last week, then on to London to play the Saints, followed by their bye week.  San Diego’s next home game is 11/9 vs. the currently 1-4 Chiefs.

And congratulations to the Texans for beating Miami and winning their 1st game of the season (in what Rich Eisen dubbed the ‘Surf and Turf Bowl’).  The Rams racked up their first win today too vs. Washington.  Arizona improved to 4-2 after handing the Cowboys their 2nd loss of the year in a dramatic OT win.

It was a great game but it would have been even better if Brady was playing so the Chargers really could have tasted revenge. Now on to Buffalo and hopefully a winning record.

Great win!….Donkey’s lose and we get to a game back….but most important,we beat the Patsies and come playoff time,if we meet up again with them,we own the tiebreaker and hopefully we would get them at home. Great effort guys..go get Buffalo.
