I agree with you wholeheartedly on the comment about the officiating. There must have been at least 5 occasions where James Harrison was tackled by your opposing O-linemen and no holding violations were called. Is this the horrible officiating you were refering to?
What - no mention of LT moping around the sidelines all game, bleeding the intensity, joy, and drive out of our team like a terminally sick child at a birthday party? Is there a sulkier sadder me-first player in the game?
Wait… what plays did the defense make? I mean they stopped a fake punt and a 4th and 1, but really, take away the garbage time touchdowns against the backups and the Steelers won by 18-25. If the Steelers had played it out, the final could have been as bad as 49-10. The stats don’t show it, but that game was a massacre.
Officiating? Really? You take umbrage with the officiating? What, specifically, did the officials to that really hurt the Chargers chances of winning that game? Last I checked, the officials didn’t let the Steelers convert three third and longs on that marathon drive in the third quarter. And I don’t think Bill Leavy tipped that Phil Rivers pass into the air, and I’m pretty sure the line judge didn’t intercept it.
The Chargers got beat, and they got beat pretty badly. They couldn’t block for Sproles, they couldn’t give Rivers time, and they couldn’t handle an offensive line that was one of the worst in the league this season. The officials didn’t have anything to do with that.
