RIP Gene Upshaw

Hall of Fame lineman and President of the NFL Players Association Gene Upshaw lost his brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was only 63.  Upshaw played his illustrious 15-year career with the Oakland Raiders, went to 7 pro bowls, and won 2 Super Bowls.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and respected him.

Pro-Bowl future-hall-of-fame FB Lorenzo Neal signed with the Ravens today.  I’m sure starting RB Willis McGahee is stoked as Neal’s streak of blocking for 1,000-yd rushers has gone on for 11 consecutive years, over 6 teams…and counting!

RIP Terrence Kiel

Former Chargers’ safety and Texas A&M alumnus Terrence Kiel was killed in an automobile accident on 4 July after slamming his 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo into a wall at “a high rate of speed” after leaving a party at former teammate Stephen Cooper’s house in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego.
